Glenn Ponas leads the AOPA Foundation's effort to expand the adoption and implementation of the High School Aviation STEM Curriculum. His team has expanded the footprint of Curriculum use from 160 schools and 6,000 students in 36 states in 2020 to 956 schools and 22,700 students in 46 states and the District of Columbia in 2023. Glenn has thirty-one years of experience as a secondary teacher, building and district level administrator, and curriculum development specialist with the Pittsburgh Public Schools. In 2002, he founded the Pittsburgh Gifted Center Aviation Program. Over the next 18 years, the Program introduced over 3,000 students to aviation, fostered over 900 EAA Young Eagles flights, and helped inspire 30 former students to become FAA certificated pilots. He is an FAA certificated private pilot and remote pilot. In 2005, Glenn co-founded and was named President and COO of Frameworks Information Technology, Inc., a web-based data visualization and GIS analysis company. He was also an educational data systems consultant for the Pennsylvania and US Departments of Education.

Dr. John Benhart Jr., is professor of regional planning in IUP’s Department of Geography, Geology, Environment and Planning and director of IUP’s Geospatial Intelligence and Uncrewed Aircraft Systems certificate programs (FAA UAS-CTI programs). Dr. Benhart’s research and teaching interests include geographic information science (GISc), technical aspects and applications of geographic information systems (GIS), and application of small-unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) to spatial data acquisition and safety protocols. He has been an investigator on projects funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the US Department of Education, the US Economic Development Administration (EDA), the United States Office of Surface Mining (OSM), and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
